Xeriscape Design

Xeriscaping describes the practice of gardening and landscaping with minimal, if any, need for watering. The term Xeric is derived from the Greek word xeros, meaning dry. A large variety of native species which are adapted to the local conditions already, and exotic species that require little water can be used to achieve a beautiful and diverse garden. Xeriscaping can reduce GHG emissions in two ways: through reduced watering, and reduced need for additional chemicals like fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. Native species tend to be particularly resistant to weeds and pests.
